William Thurmond served as a pastor for fifty-four years. His ministry embraced both religious and civic enterprises. Dr William Thurmond views his ministry as a call to serve both church and community; therefore, since 1956, he has served many religious, community, and civic organizations. He retired from the pastoral ministry in 2010, after fifty- four years; but he still in active in teaching and consulting.
William Thurmond has served congregations in Canada and California. He has served as Director of Urban Ministries for the American Baptist Churches of Los Angeles. His passion is to see churches become healthy, vibrant, multiethnic, missional communities, fully engaged with their neighbourhoods.
